How to Stay Fit at a Desk Job

I know that many of you out there have careers that require you to be at a desk all day long and I know it’s not easy! Our bodies are not meant to sit all day long as it slows down our circulation. I’m here to help you be proactive, get that body moving and stay fit. Watch my video as I share five tips that you can implement today to get fit, even in that chair!

NJFit TWEETit: Staying fit…even at my desk job #noexcuses! #workinitatwork with @NatalieJillFit

Stay Fit Tip #1 – Replace chair with a Stability BallStayFitAtADeskJob

By forcing yourself to sit up on a stability ball, you are engaging that core throughout the day.  If you want to take it a step further and burn a few more calories, consider getting a stand up desk or a treadmill desk. You need to be committed though. Some companies offer stand up desks that you can adjust so that you can sit down when you want.

Stay Fit Tip #2 – Always have water by your desk

It’s super important to not only stay hydrated, but drinking water keeps you full.

Stay Fit Tip #3 – Set a timer

Every 45 minutes (or whatever is realistic for you), get up walk around and get that body moving! This will also help with your attention span and perhaps give you a little “refresh feeling” to continue on with your tasks.

Stay Fit Tip #4 – Keep snacks and food away from your desk

Let’s face it… if the snacks are there (even the healthy ones), you will be tempted to eat even if you’re not hungry.

Stay Fit Tip #5 – Pack your own lunch!

Avoid the food court at lunch and pack your own. Not only will this ensure you are eating healthy, it will allow you some time to get a workout in.
