Sunshine, Zombies, and a Side of Hives

Sunshine, Zombies, and a Side of Hives

šŸ’Œ Notes from Natalie

What a week šŸ˜…

I’m actually writing this to you outside because Phoenix has finally remembered how to be nice. For about six months a year, it’s absolute perfection here. Today it’s 75, sunny, not a single cloud in sight, and I’m in my happy place sitting outside, laptop open, soaking up sunshine like it’s my full-time job. ā˜€ļø

If you’re feeling stressed, off, tired, moody, bloated, cranky, or all of the above (hi, midlife), I have a prescription for you that doesn’t come in a bottle. Go outside. Seriously. Go for a walk, sit on a park bench, or even just stand in your driveway for a minute and look at the sky. Nature is free therapy. It’s grounding, mood-shifting, and if you’re anything like me, it’ll probably fix more than one thing you didn’t even know needed fixing.

Yes, I’m still navigating the hive situation and learning more than I ever thought possible about histamine, mast cell activation, and how all of this can impact women in midlife and menopause. It’s honestly mind-blowing how interconnected it all is.

For me, I’ve been experimenting with a low-histamine diet for about 30 days to try to calm my system down. And wow, it’s been an eye-opener. Not recommending this for everyone (it’s hard… no bone broth, no avocado, no leftovers, no nightshades, no fun basically 🤪), but I can’t deny that I feel better. My sleep has improved, I’m waking up calmer, and my stress levels are down. So for now, I’m sticking with it.

If you missed my little explainer video on histamine and mast cells,Ā you can find it on Instagram here. It’s short, simple, and might just make you say, ā€œWait… this could be me.ā€

Now if you want to relax and breathe a little, this week’s podcast episode was so good. I sat down with my friend Sam Skelly to talk all about breath work and why it’s simpler and more powerful than you think. You can listen to that onĀ Apple hereĀ orĀ Spotify here.

And speaking of things that sound spooky but are actually science, my chat with Dan from Qualia was one of my favorites. We talked all about ā€œzombie cells.ā€ Perfect timing for Halloween, right? šŸ§Ÿā€ā™€ļø Except these aren’t the kind that chase you in movies. These are real cells that hang out in your body past their expiration date, slowing your metabolism, recovery, and energy. Basically, the freeloaders of your biology. You canĀ watch the episode by clicking the image belowĀ or listen onĀ Apple hereĀ orĀ Spotify here.

Coming up next week, I’ve got some juicy stuff for you, including one about money and midlife. Because let’s be real, some of us were too busy raising kids, building businesses, and surviving hot flashes to also become investment experts. If you’ve ever thought, ā€œI’m behind on my financial planning,ā€ this one’s for you.

And then, get ready, because we’re diving deep into gut health. I’m teaming up with The Gut Genie for a live, interactive workshop that’ll walk you through how to repair and reset your gut in real time. Keep an eye on your inbox because every time I host a class, at least five of you message me afterward saying, ā€œWait, I missed it!ā€

Don’t miss this one. Your gut (and your mood) will thank you.

Until next week, get outside, breathe deep, and if you see me scratching, just know your girl is still working on it. šŸ˜Ž

XO,
