02 Jan No Resolutions. Just Direction
đ Notes from Natalie
Iâm not coming in hot with a giant list of goals or a ânew year new youâ speech because honestly⊠Iâm not new. And neither are you lol.
New Yearâs Eve looked a little different for us this year. And if Iâm being honest, itâs been gradually looking different for a while now.
My husband and I were sitting on the couch in comfy clothes, watching Netflix, snacking, fully settled in. Then we looked at each other like⊠did we really make a 7:45 PM reservation to go out with friends? đ
We absolutely did.

We laughed. We debated canceling. Then we went. And we were actually really glad we did.
What made it even funnier was noticing that all of us needed reading glasses. Or phone flashlights. Or both. Holding menus at armâs length, squinting, tilting our heads like maybe the font was getting smaller. Or maybe⊠itâs our eyes. Still unclear.

This past year was a lot for me. Healing. Slowing down. Relearning my body. Letting go of forcing. Getting way more honest about what actually works for me now, not what worked ten or twenty years ago.
Some chapters were empowering. Some were humbling. Some were frustrating as hell. All of them taught me something.
Old me would have tried to outwork discomfort.
Current me listens first. Stretches more. Supplements smarter. Goes to bed earlier. And no longer ignores whispers from my body until they turn into full blown yelling.
Midlife New Year energy hits different.
Itâs less about chasing and more about choosing.
Less punishing. More listening.
Less proving. More protecting my nervous system like itâs a VIP pass.
Iâm not setting resolutions. Iâm setting a direction.
More honesty with my body.
More recovery without guilt.
More laughter.
More saying no without a long explanation.
More joy that doesnât require âearning.â
If youâre feeling reflective, hopeful, tender, tired, excited, or all of the above right now, youâre doing it right.
You are not behind.
You are not broken.
You are not starting over.
Youâre starting from experience.
And that is powerful.
đ This Week on the Podcast
This weekâs episode feels especially fitting as we head into a new year.
What if everything going on physically in your body was connected to whatâs happening mentally in your brain? And what if your negative or intrusive thoughts werenât random or âsomething wrong with you,â but actually information?
In this episode of Midlife Conversations, I sit down with Dr. Yasmine Saad to talk about what our intrusive worries and thoughts are really trying to tell us, how the brain and body are constantly communicating, and how understanding that connection can change the way you relate to anxiety, stress, and even physical symptoms.
If youâve ever thought, âWhy does my brain do this?â or âWhy does my body feel off even when Iâm doing all the right things?â this one will land.

Hereâs to a new year that feels less forced and more aligned.
Less hustle. More clarity.
And a lot more grace for ourselves along the way.
