I just got back from Mexico. Zihuatanejo to be exact. And wow. Sun, water, my best friend, low stress days, long walks, journaling, daydreaming, thinking about possibility, and actually having space to create again. It was one of those trips that reminds you who you are when you’re not rushing from one thing to the next.
I really needed that kind of downtime.
I did do a workout reel with my best friend Allison (who is 62 years old by the way) and her dog Winston trained us (I AM SERIOUS). It was such a good reminder that strong has no age limit. You can find that video here:
Now I’m back home in the Phoenix, Arizona area as I write this. Not quite Mexican beaches, but honestly it’s a great time of year here. Sunshine, walks outside every day, and I’ll take that win because winter sunshine is basically free therapy.
So let’s catch up on what went down this week.
🎙 ON THE PODCAST
I sat down with a cardiologist. And if you’ve been around here long enough, you know I love learning, digging deep, and asking questions even when it’s a little controversial.
This was actually my second cardiologist interview, but this one had very different viewpoints than the first. He is not your typical traditional cardiologist. He is very focused on root cause, prevention, and understanding risk long before disease becomes a problem.
We talked a lot about heart disease prevention, how to truly assess risk, and yes, statins. I shared some of this on social media and that stirred up some opinions. Most comments were great, but a few said it was irresponsible.
I had to laugh 😂
To me, what’s irresponsible is not asking questions. Not learning. Not challenging what we’ve been told. Everything we believe and practice today has gotten us exactly where we are right now. If we want something different, we have to stay curious.
