When your doctor’s vibe is worse than your symptoms…

When your doctor’s vibe is worse than your symptoms…

💌 Notes from Natalie Let’s talk about that time this week when I walked into a doctor’s office totally fine… and walked out needing a nap, a therapy session, and maybe a pink margarita (and I do not even drink)

I was there for a simple pre-surgical clearance. Easy. In and out. Instead, I walked into an energy field of… chaos.

The doctor walked in without a hello and barked: “Get your neurosurgeon on the phone. Now.”

I blinked. She was SUPER rude. Pretty sure I wasn’t hired as her front desk support.

Then she started pushing her preferred surgeon in Phoenix instead of mine in Los Angeles like she was upselling an extended car warranty.

But the grand finale?

She told me I needed to stop using my estradiol patch because it “causes blood clots.” 😑

I use a bioidentical, transdermal estrogen patch—not a synthetic oral one. And the research on this is very clear. But when I tried to gently explain that, she cut me off with the classic: “I’m older and I know better.”

Older doesn’t mean updated. And I was not there for hormones. Now I was annoyed.

So here’s what that appointment reminded me of:

  • Someone else’s bad mood can totally hijack your energy… if you let it. I did lol

  • We have to learn to snap out of it when someone tries to throw their chaos our way.

  • And most importantly: A white coat doesn’t cancel your common sense.

Not all doctors are like this—some are absolutely amazing. I work with and trust many of them. But when advice feels off, you’re allowed to ignore it.

You are the expert on your own body. Ask the questions. Trust your gut. And if needed—walk out, laugh, and maybe grab that margarita.

So enough of that! On to some happier things that happened this week!

In the Kitchen: YES, you can make brownies with olive oil. Learned that on my recent interview with the founder of Fresh Pressed Olive Oil Club HERE! Just make sure you don’t eat the entire pan like I did (learn from me).

🍫 Gluten-Free Olive Oil Brownies

gluten free olive oil brownies

Ingredients:
  • ¾ cup almond flour

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ tsp sea salt

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil (use high quality olive oil like this one)

  • ½ cup maple syrup

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional: dark chocolate chips or walnuts
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 pan with parchment or lightly grease.

  2. In a bowl, mix dry ingredients: almond flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda.

  3. In another bowl, whisk olive oil, maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla.

  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Fold in chocolate chips if using.

  5. Pour into pan and bake 20–25 minutes, or until the center is set.

  6. Let cool (if you can wait), slice… and try not to eat the whole thing. I DID haha. Then I got mad at Brooks for not eating them all first (before I had a chance to lol)

💡 Little Reminder:

Other people’s moods are not your responsibility. You get to protect your energy. You get to challenge outdated advice. You get to choose what’s right for you.

OHHHH and GF olive oil brownies can knock you out of any bad mood!

You’ve got this.
