Get Rid Of the Muffin Top!

Have you ever had to lie on your bed to zip up your jeans?  It happens.  But here is the deal… you can get rid of that muffin top.  I’m not going to lie… it’s going to take more than these core exercises to flatten that midsection, but if you DECIDE you’re ready and want to make that commitment, I’m here and ready to help.  In this video, I demonstrate three quick and effective “go to” exercises that are going to help flatten out that belly and focus on that core.

#1 – Standard Plank PositionNo more muffin top

I’ve said this before, but this is my favorite ab exercise.  Take it down to the ground in plank position on your forearms, squeezing your glutes and abs and HOLD. You don’t want to let your body sink down and you should never feel discomfort or pressure in your lower back. If need be, you can rock back and forth on your toes or bring the plank up onto your hands.

#2 – Opposite Elbow, Opposite Knee

Bring that plank position up on your hands and pull your knee in toward the opposite elbow.  Continue alternating sides and think about reaching your elbows, but if that’s too difficult, aim for your wrist.

#3 – Plank with a Twist

Starting out in plank position with your hands and legs a little bit wider, you are going to open up one side, creating the letter “T” with your arms.  This is a full range in body motion, and your toes will role to one side as your body does.  Come back down and twist on the other side. You should feel this in your obliques and core, strengthening your abdominals.
